The very heart of being unique is the constant expansion of freedom. The very essence of uniqueness is being free.
The “pursuit of happiness” line in the Declaration of Independence was actually a last minute change, the original line was the “pursuit of property”.
Reading is more important than going to school.
The US is the only country based on ideas. All the founding fathers were geniuses of various sorts and they all knew they were doing something big.
The trouble with pursuing happiness is the perceived gap, if you’re pursuing happiness, you must not be happy.
One of the biggest reasons people die is they have no friends, no money, or no purpose.
We do pursue things, but the pursuit is not the basis of our happiness.
There are two types of freedom and most people only experience the first. We want to be free from some things and free to do some things.
Introducing a new conversation to the world is a unique thing.
A lot of addiction is caused by thinking that the past and the future are real places.
Be careful having thoughts in your head about your life being complete.
People buy into the general narrative of getting old and slowing down, retirement and bring ‘finished’. Don’t be concerned about building monuments to yourself. Monuments are about the past.
The 10 smartest people in the government today don’t come up to the kneecaps of the founding fathers.
It’s not for you to say when the end of your life is.
If you’re going to compete against your peers, wait until they are in their 70’s, there’s barely a pulse.
If come out of a downturn with as powerful a team as you went into it you will make tremendous progress in the marketplace. Stay confident and stay at full capability.
You will be unique if you are never slowing down and decide that this doesn’t have an end.
Entrepreneurs often start out their life as different from the rest of society as they can be and then they usually end up imitating everyone else at the end of their life.
If you want to take the meaning out of a word, add ‘social’ to the beginning.
The world has no responsibility to develop your uniqueness, it’s strictly your game.
