Dan was born just before D-Day, in a world that valued conformity more than being unique.
Technology is freeing human beings from conformity.
People are organized internally in three totally different ways: Tradition Centered, Inner Centered, and Outer Centered.
Social media is an extreme example of being outer centered where you try to be who others think you are.
Uniqueness doesn’t tend to appear in people who are Tradition or Outer Centered.
A business like Steve Sims’ Bluefish is only possible in a world where he can find people with unique skills and connect with them.
If you are going to be successful, you have to make up your own future. The way to do that is to make up your own past.
Our past is a set of ideas about what happened to us. Our future is a set of ideas about what will happen to us.
Painful experiences only stay with us because we haven’t extracted a lesson from them. The lesson means that experience has a future.
The ability to break out of a silent battle is what starts the healing process.
How much of people’s lives revolve around them wanting or imagining being someone else. Celebrity culture is a symptom of people trying to live lives other than their own.
People who spend the most time on social media have the highest rates of depression, especially young people.
If you actually have a center, you don’t need to prove it to other people.
